Quartermaster Gallagher joined the VFW Post 6073, Scottsboro, AL in 2019 as a Life Member. During this time, he received the Post Quartermaster All-American Team Award for FY 2021-2022; All-State Team for FY 2022-2023 and 2023-2024. He also served as Quartermaster for VFW District 2 for two years from 2022-2024 and received the District Quartermaster FY 2023-2024 All-State Team Award. In 2025 he transferred to the newly formed VFW Post 12242 in Huntsville, AL. and has served as Quartermaster since its inception.
